Quick Guide

Quick Guide

League Homepage

This page allows you to view league standings, view the league schedule, take part in smack talk, read the commissioner news, customize your team and manage trades.

How can I view league standings?

League standings can be viewed in the column on the left of the homepage.  Teams are listed in order from first (top of column) to last (bottom of column).  Under each team you will see wins (W), losses (L), ties (T), point earning s (Pts) and points for and against (F/A).

How are league standings determined?

Teams are ranked by their total points (Pts).  When a team wins a head-to-head matchup, they are awarded two points.  When a team loses a matchup they are awarded zero points.  When two teams tie, they each receive one point.  When two teams are tied for total points (Pts), the team with the most points for (F/A) is placed ahead of the other team.

How are league standings related to playoffs?

Be sure to ask your commissioner what playoff format will be used in your league.  The playoff format that your league uses must be decided by the commissioner and/or the general managers in your league.  Different formats may include allowing all teams to qualify for playoffs, disqualifying the bottom two teams from the playoffs, giving the top two teams a bye in the first round of the playoffs, or any combination of the above.  Some leagues do not have playoffs and the team with the most total point at the end of the season wins.

What do the stars in the league standings mean?

The stars that appear next to each team in the league standings display the weekly general manager rating.  The formula for this rating is based on the ratio between the total points that your starting lineup earned to the number of points your entire roster earned.  If you benched top point earners, and started low point earners, your ratio will be low.  If you benched low point earners and started top point earners, your ratio will be high.  1 star = 80%, 2 stars = 85%, 3 stars = 90%, 4 stars = 95% and 5 stars = 100%.  Please note that your commissioner rating has nothing to do with the overall team standings.

How can I view the weekly match-up schedule?

To view all weekly head-to-head matchups, click the “View Schedule” button.

How can I communicate with other general managers?

The smack talk feature serves as an online chat forum allowing general managers in your league to stay connected, ask questions and most importantly, smack talk!

Where can I look to find important league updates?

The commissioner news feature allows commissioners to share important information with all general managers in the league.  For example, the commissioner may post important dates, league details, weekly highlights and more.

How can I keep track of all of the player transactions in my league?

To view a chronological listing of all player adds, drops and trades that have occurred in your league, click on the “League Events” button.

How can I customize my team?

Click on the “Customize Team button” to upload a logo or image, change your team name, email address (login username), screen name and password.

How can I accept, reject, or counter-offer trades?

When you click on the “Manage Trades” button, all pending trades appear.  To manage a trade involving your team, click on the trade offer that you wish to manage and edit or approve the trade.  It is important to note that trades are not processed until the commissioner grants final approval.

Team Management

This page allows you to view available free agents, add and drop players, initiate trades with other general managers, manage players after an approved trade and view the rosters of other teams.

How can I view league details like the Canadian ratio, transaction limits and roster limits?

By clicking on the league name, all of the league details set by the league commissioner will appear.  The league commissioner has the option to change the default settings, but in doing so, he/she must assume responsibility for how game play is affected.

How do I view the roster of another team?

To view the roster of another team, click the “View Different Roster” button above and select the team that you wish to view.  This team will upload in the left column in place of your team.

How can I view free agents?

By clicking the “Free Agents” button, free agents will appear in a collapsible list organized by player position.  To collapse a list, click on the player position heading.  For easy navigation, the players can be sorted by last name (alphabetically) or by total points (highest to lowest).

How can I view individual player statistics?

When the free agent or team roster list appears to your left, you can view individual player statistics by clicking on the player’s name and the player performance box will appear.  This box includes a table of their personalized stats and point totals.  A graph will also appear, giving you a specific breakdown of the player’s performance (total points) for each game played.

How can I drop a player from my roster?

To drop a player, display your roster and then click on the player you wish to drop.  The player performance box will appear.  In the bottom right corner of this box you will see a button that says “Drop Player”.  Click this button to drop the player from your roster.  The players that are on your starting line-up will appear in green font while all other players will appear in white font.  You may not drop a player that is on your starting lineup and involved in a head-to-head matchup.

How can I add a player to my roster?

To add a player, click the “Select Free Agents” button at the top of your screen.  Once you have found the player you want to add, click on his name.  Once again, the player performance box will appear.  In the bottom right corner of this box you will see a button that says, “Add Player”.  Click this button to add the player to your roster.  If your roster is full, you will be asked to drop a player before adding another one.  So, if you want to add a receiver and your roster receiver limit is full, you must first clear a roster spot by dropping a receiver from your team.  If you are trying to replace an injured player, you may place the injured player on the injury reserve instead of dropping him as long as your injury reserve is not full.

How many adds and drops (player transactions) can I make?

Each add or drop counts as a transaction.  For example, if you drop a player and add a player to replace him, two transactions will be used.  Your remaining adds/drops are displayed at the top right corner of the team management page.  Transaction and injury reserve limits should be discussed by the general managers before performing a draft and set by the commissioner.

How can I make a trade offer?

To make a trade, click the “Initiate Trade” button at the top of your screen.  A screen with three columns will appear – you will see your team roster in the middle column.  Scroll down and click on the “Select a Team to Trade With” button located in the left column.  The team you select will appear in the column to your right.  To make a trade, simply drag the player(s) you want to offer over to the other team’s roster.  Then, drag the player(s) you want to acquire over to your roster.  The details of the trade will appear in the column at the middle of the screen.  To complete the trade offer click the “Make Trade Offer” button in the left column.

How can a trade be finalized?

The team who has been offered the trade must then click on the “Manage Trades” button on the home page and click “Approve Trade”.  All trades must be approved by the commissioner before they can be finalized.  Once a trade has been approved, click on the “Manage New Arrivals” button at the top of your screen.  You will then be asked manage the newly acquired players.  There is no time limit in which you must manage new arrivals.  However, you can only have a maximum of two new arrivals at one time and you are restricted from making trades until they have been managed.  If you have taken part in a two for one trade and you are receiving two players, you may be asked to make your roster size legal if you haven’t done so already.  Your remaining trades are displayed at the top right corner of the team management page.  Trade limits should be discussed by the general managers before performing a draft and set by the commissioner.

How will I know if players are injured?

Injured players will be marked with a red cross beside their name.  Players are marked as injured by the Fantas-Eh stats team using credible information that is made publically available.  It is important to note that CFL injury information is often difficult to access and may not always be accurate.  If you know that a player is injured and he is not designated as such in the Fantas-Eh database, please feel free to contact us.

How can I manage injured players?

To place these players on the injury reserve (IR), click on the name of the player and the player performance box will appear.  At the bottom of this box, you will see a button that says, “Add to Injury Reserve”.  Click this button to add the injured player to the IR.  You will know the player has been successfully added to the IR if the red cross beside their name turns green.  You may only have a certain number of players on IR, as designated by your commissioner.  Once a player is on the IR, you are free to add another player to your team without exceeding the roster limit.  However, the player on the IR may not be placed on the starting lineup until he has been removed from the IR.  If you have added a player to replace the player on IR, you must drop a player before the system will allow you to remove the player from the IR.

How will I know when a player is healthy?

When a player is injured, he will be marked as injured until the Fantas-Eh stats team has reliable information indicating that he is healthy.  When placing a player that is marked as injured on your starting lineup, you do so at your own risk.  If you know that a player is healthy and they are still designated as being injured please feel free to contact us.

How do I manage the Canadian ratio?

If your commissioner has set a Canadian ratio, you will be required to adhere to this ratio on your roster and starting lineup.  For example, if the ratio has been set at two, you must have a minimum of two Canadian players on your roster.  In addition, you must start a minimum of two Canadian players in head-to-head matchups.

How are player positions designated in the Fantas-Eh program?

Players will be listed in the Fantas-Eh player database according to their respective positions as identified on the official team rosters at the start of the season.  For example, if a player is listed as a DB on a team roster but is utilized as a LB during games, his official Fantas-Eh position will continue to be a DB unless his designation is changed on the official team roster the following year.

What if a player position changes in the middle of the season?

Once a player position has been determined at the start of a Fantas-Eh season, it will not be changed – even if the player changes positions on the official team roster.  By changing this position in the Fantas-Eh database, we run the risk of making a huge number of individual team rosters illegal.

What is a player does not appear to be in the Fantas-Eh database?

If there is a player missing from our database that appears on an official team roster, please contact us and he will be added as soon as possible.

Starting Lineup

This page allows you to set and change your starting lineup.

How do I set my starting lineup?

To add players to your starting lineup, simply click and drag your players onto the field and place them in their designated player positions.

To remove a single player from the starting lineup, click on the name of the player (on the field) and a box will appear.  Click “Bench Player” to remove him from the lineup.  You will also notice a button that says “Manage Player”, which will take you directly to the team management page.  To remove all players from the starting lineup, click “Clear All” and to restore the previously designated starting lineup click “Last Saved”.

To save the starting lineup, click, “Save Starting Lineup”.  If you exit the starting lineup page without saving, the changes in your starting lineup will not be saved and you will continue to play with your previously designated lineup.

How do I put special teams on my starting lineup?

If your league has decided to include special teams, you do not need to drag your special teams onto the field.  Your special teams will always appear in the bottom right hand corner of the field.

When can I add and remove players from my starting lineup?

Players can be added and/or removed to your starting lineup until approximately 30 minutes before the weekly game that they are playing in begins.  For example, if player X plays at 5:30 pm (CST), he must be placed on the starting lineup before 5:00 pm (CST).  If player Y plays at 8:30 (CST), he must be placed on the starting lineup by 8:00 pm (CST).  The commission has the ability to make changes to all starting lineups during a freeze.

Once players have played, they cannot be removed from the starting lineup until all weekly games are played and the statistics have been reviewed.  At this time, the freeze will be removed (generally within 12 hours of the final game of the week).

Game Day

This page allows you to view live head-to-head match-up scores, view live individual roster statistics and smack talk.

Where can I view scores during a head-to-head match-up?

Your head-to-head match-up is displayed on the large scoreboard on the Game Day page.  The box labelled “Game Scores” at the top right of your screen allows you to view other weekly matchups.  The weekly statistics earned by individual players on your starting lineup and your opponents starting lineup are displayed to the right and left of the scoreboard screen.

Why are there four lights on the scoreboard?

There four lights on the scoreboard.  At the start of each weekly CFL game, a light will illuminate until all four games have been played.  For example, approximately 15 minutes before the third CFL game of the week, the third light on the scoreboard will illuminate.  In a Fantas-Eh match-up, each weekly CFL game counts for one quarter of Fantas-Eh game play. The Fantas-Eh game is done when all four “real games” have been played.

How will I know who won?

Once all four quarters (weekly CFL games) have been played, the team with the most points in each head-to head match-up wins.  The winner will receive two points in the league standings and the loser will receive zero.  When a tie happens, both teams are awarded one point.

How can I view the statistics of players that I did not place on my starting lineup or the statistics of players on other teams?

To view all weekly player statistics from your team and other teams click on the “Roster Stats” button located below the Smack Talk application on the Game Day Page.

When can I change my starting lineup?

Players can be added and/or removed to your starting lineup until approximately 30 minutes before the game that they are playing in begins.  For example, if player X plays Friday at 5:30 pm (CST), he must be placed on the starting lineup before 5:00 pm (CST).  If player Y plays Saturday at 8:30 (CST), he must be placed on the starting lineup by 8:00 pm (CST).

What if I did not set my starting lineup on time or I want to make changes during a freeze?

The commissioner has the ability to make changes to all starting lineups at any time (including during a freeze).

What happens during the bye weeks?

The two bye weeks will be combined to make up one week of Fantas-Eh play.

When will the freeze be removed?

The Fantas-Eh statistics team may adjust statistics after games.  However, weekly statistics will become official following each week of play.  At this time, the starting lineup freeze will be removed.  Generally, the freeze will be removed within 12 hours after the last weekly game.

How can I view which point settings are used in my league?

By clicking on the league name, all of the league details set by the league commissioner will appear.  Statistics will reflect the settings selected by your commissioner.  If the commissioner does not change anything, the default settings are applied to your league.  The league commissioner has the option to change the default settings, but in doing so, he/she must assume responsibility for how game play is affected.

What if the Fantas-Eh statistics do not match published statistics?

Although Fantas-Eh statistics are generally consistent with other published statistics, the statistics we generate are official and will not be changed to reflect other published statistics.  If you notice major discrepancies in statistics, please advise the Fantas-Eh stats team.

How “live” are live statistics?

Although statistics are live, you can expect some delay.  However, statistics are usually posted within 20 minutes of each play.  In the event of a technical difficulty, the Fantas-Eh statistics will be entered following affected games or as soon as the issue has been resolved.  The user fee is considered payment for use of the Fantas-Eh site, whereas live statistics are offered to you at no cost.  In the rare event that we are unable to post live statistics, no reimbursement will be made.

When will I be informed if a player is injured?

Daily updates to the player database will be made to reflect roster changes made by real teams.  When a player is injured, he will be marked as injured until the Fantas-Eh stats team has reliable information indicating that he is healthy.  When placing a player that is marked as injured on your starting line up, you do so at your own risk.  We will do our best to notify Fantas-Eh users when a player is injured, however, injury notification is not guaranteed.

What if a player changes positions?

Players will be listed in the Fantas-Eh player database according to their respective positions as identified on the official team rosters.  For example, if a player is listed as a DB on a team roster but is utilized as a LB during games, his official Fantas-Eh position will continue to be a DB.  Once a season has started, we cannot change player positions in our database even if their position changes on their “real” team.  This is because people may have drafted this player already and changing the position would make their rosters invalid.

Commissioner

These pages allows you to set league settings, set team settings, set offensive and defensive point settings and perform a draft.

                What is a commissioner?

A commissioner is the person who manages your league.  This person has access to league settings, team settings and point settings.  They may choose to adjust these settings or use the Fantas-Eh default settings.  The commissioner can also post messages, take control of other teams and set a playoff schedule.  Members who are not commissioners will not have access to the commissioner page.  However, they can view the league details from any page by clicking on the league name.

What are default settings?

Default settings are the league settings, team settings and point settings designated by the Fantas-Eh team for optimum game play.  These settings can be changed by the commissioner.

League Settings:

Under league settings, you will find the following four categories:  General League Settings, Commissioner’s Message, Reports and Schedule.

How can the commissioner set general league settings?

You may change the league name, set a Canadian ratio, set a trade limit, set a pickup/drop limit, set a trade deadline and set the number of players allowed on the injury reserve.  Remember to save your changes.

Please note that the Canadian ratio sets the number of Canadian players that must be on the roster and starting lineup.

A trade transaction is only charged to the team offering the trade.  Pickups and drops count as individual transactions, so if a team drops a player and picks up another player as a replacement, this team will be charged two transactions.

Only injured players (marked with a red cross) may be put on the IR.  This allows the GM to add another player until the injured player is healthy.  Players on the IR may not be placed on the starting lineup until they have been removed from the IR.

How can the commissioner display a message for all general managers?

Type the desired a message in the commissioner’s message box and click the “set” button.  This message will be displayed for all of the general managers in your league to see.

How can the commissioner approve or reject trade offers?

Go to “Reports” to view and manage trades.  The “View Report” option allows you to view events including adds/drops and starting lineup changes etc.  The “Approve/Reject Pending Trades” button allows you to review and finalize trade offers.  All trades must be approved by the commissioner before the program will process them.

How can the commissioner change the schedule?

By clicking “Edit Schedule” you can change your league schedule for any week.  This function will also allow you to set your playoff schedule if you have elected to use an elimination style playoff.  Remember to save your changes.

Team Settings:

Under team settings, you will find the following two categories:  League Teams and Team Composition.

How can the commissioner take control of another team?

By clicking on the “Take Control of Team” button, you may make changes to a team roster or starting lineup.  When you take control of a team, you will see a button that says “Click Here to Release Control of Team” in the right side of the league name bar.  Click this button to relinquish control of the team.  Remember to save your changes.

How can the commissioner set roster and starting lineup limits?

The team composition box allows you to set the maximum number of players permitted on both the team roster and starting lineup. Be sure that the number of players on the roster in each position is equal to or greater than the number of starters permitted in that same position.  Remember to save your changes.

Customizable Point Settings:

How can the commissioner change offensive point settings?

After clicking the offence arrow at the top left of your screen, four player position headings will appear including: ST, QB, WR/SB, RB, K. By clicking each heading, you will find a series of statistics that are specific to each position.  Each statistic has a default point value.  To change a statistical point value, click the drop down box beside the statistic you would like to change and select another point value.  Remember to save your changes.

How can the commissioner change defensive point settings?

After clicking the defence arrow at the top right of your screen, three player position headings will appear including: DB, DS and LB.  By clicking each heading, you will find a series of statistics that are specific to each position.  Each statistic has a default point value.  To change a statistical point value, click the drop down box beside the statistic you would like to change and select another point value.  Remember to save your changes.

Draft:

How can a commissioner enter a manual draft?

Before you can use the draft section of the commissioner settings, make sure that you have completed your draft (using the draft package) and that you have a list of players drafted by each team in your league.  When entering the draft section, you will find three columns.  To the left of your screen you will see the free agent list.  Free agents are listed by position and they appear in alphabetical order.  The column at the center of your screen can not be manipulated – it simply displays your selected roster settings.  To the right of your screen you will see a list of the teams in your league.

To complete a draft, click on a player in the free agent list and drag him to the team that he has been drafted by.  To remove a player from a team, click and drag the player back into the free agent list (this can only be done before you save the draft).  Continue dropping and dragging players until all team rosters are complete.  Be sure to double check each team roster before saving.  If you wish to exit a draft before saving, click the “close” button.  If you wish to save your draft, click the “Finish Draft and Save Rosters” button.  If you have saved a draft, but wish to make roster changes without charging teams for a transaction, you must change the pickups/drops setting (in league settings) to unlimited before managing teams.  Once you are done, reset the pickups/drops limit to the original setting.
